Gem Gossip Visits Doyle NY Auction

On my latest trip to NYC, I frequented an auction house I’ve been dying to acquire a glimpse of-Doyle NY. The NYC dependent organization was started in 1962 and due to the fact then has developed immensely (a lot more than only a jewelry auction), with satellite workplaces in metropolitan areas across the US like Beverly Hills and Georgetown/DC, and regional reps in Charlotte, Boston, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Florida. The auction dwelling offers about 40 gross sales on a yearly basis and has a loaded historical past of performing with a few incredible and newsworthy purchasers. Their overarching target should be to give pro evaluations, personalised provider, while acquiring the best costs at auction.

I met using the jewelry staff on my check out plus they were being excited regarding the forthcoming Vital Jewelry Sale, occurring April 24th, 2018. The sale is made up of 428 a lot, ranging in period of time and value details of jewelry from all walks of lifetime. These parts comes from estates, non-public collections and all over the globe, looking ahead to their next journey. This sale showcases several showstoppers and many designer pieces from many of the most famous jewelry residences. Names like David Webb, Van Clef & Arpels, Bvlgari, Tiffany & Co., Paul Flato, Buccellati, and Cartier to name a few.

I was able to try-on a number of items from the impending sale and learn about its background and what made each piece so special. The above amethyst and texturized gold bracelet really caught my attention! It is set with pink tourmalines and emeralds, which I thought was a unique combination with amethyst. It is lot 237 in the approaching sale and the estimate is $4,000-6,000.

The above bracelets are really grand – the enameled zebra, you may have guessed, is David Webb. It is lot 378, set with diamonds and ruby eyes, with an estimate of $25,000-35,000. The bold turquoise duo is also another gorgeous lot, by Van Clef & Arpels, and can actually be combined to create a necklace. They are done in 18k gold bomb style and are lot number 387, with an estimate of $30,000-50,000.

If you love the VCA bracelets from the last photo, you’ll really flip for this breath-taking necklace, also done by Van Cleef. It is lot 386 and the piece is set with Persian turquoise and diamonds (approx. 21.75 carats) and was easily one of my favorites with the entire sale! The estimate on this necklace is $35,000-45,000. The opal doublet earrings are fun and make a bold statement – silver forest earringsthey are set in 18k gold with omega backs, lot 20. The estimate on those is 1,500-2,000.

Lot 313: Sapphire and diamond ring set in 18k white gold with cabochon sapphire accents, Estimate: $20,000-30,000

Lot 27: Serpenti ring by Bvlgari set with diamonds and pink tourmaline in 18k rose gold, Estimate: $8,000-12,000

I love a fun and unique brooch-this one instantly cheers me up and I’m transported to a tropical paradise that I so desperately am seeking. The brooch is lot 116 and is a toucan consisting of onyx, diamonds, tsavorite garnets, rhodolite garnets, sapphire, and carved coral beak. The estimate is $2,500-3,500

Some much more fun bracelets, this time a leopard bangle with black enamel detailing and ruby & diamond features. The leopard is lot 5 and the estimate is $2,500-3,500 (there is a matching ring in the sale as well). The other bracelet is iconically matching rings for best friendsrecognizable as a Schlumberger piece, with a soft coral enamel coloring done in 18k yellow gold. This Tiffany bracelet is estimated at $30,000-40,000 and is lot 84.

Lot 120 & Lot 198 – these wide enameled rings really stood out to me and you can easily see why! Both are done in 18k yellow gold with bright enamel and set with a contrasting gemstone. The geometric pattern and colors make these bold, statement pieces.

This David Webb brooch of a bejeweled lion deserves a long ponder-each gemstone was selectively chosen for the design and each detail is on point. A diamond body, yellow sapphire fur and emerald eyes make this brooch a complete masterpiece. The gold claws are probably my favorite design element. The estimate is $30,000-50,000 and is lot 365.
