Fellows Auction: Antique & Modern Jewellery, November 7, 2013

Every month, Fellows Auction House holds numerous auctions, all worth getting excited over. Last month, not only did I learn the in’s and out’s of registering to bid online, but I actually bid and bid successfully, winning a fashion earringsgorgeous sapphire and diamond ring! More on that later, right now I want to tell you about this month’s Antique & Modern Jewelry auction that is set for November 7, 2013.

The catalog features 634 lots of beautiful rings, bracelets, necklaces, brooches, earrings and watches! I noticed quite the collection of jewelry reminiscent of the Edwardian Era-a time during the early 1900s known for its privilege and prosperity. During British Empire, England jewelry was the preferred way to show one’s rank. Diamonds, pearls, platinum over gold, with garland styles, and lace-like qualities were characteristic of the time.

Fellows has some great pieces that represent this time period because they are located right where it all happened. Here are some of my favorite pieces that will be up for auction on November 7th!

Lot 19: A Peridot and half-pearl pendant, which also may be worn as a brooch. So pretty and delicate, this pendant would be great for everyday wear!

Lot 183: A diamond and pearl pendant, which also may be worn as a brooch. All the diamonds real silver earringsare the Old Mine cuts with a dangling pearl at the end, set in silver and gold.

Lot 185: A rose cut diamond and pearl brooch, set in silver and gold. This would look gorgeous on a scarf, perfect for the colder temperatures where brooches are more appropriate.

Lot 222: An oval cut amethyst and half-pearl brooch. The gems are set in 15k gold in a kite shape. So gorgeous to see pearls matched with the royal purple color of this amethyst.

Lot 261: A diamond brooch set in silver and gold. The diamonds are all Old Mine cuts with an approximate carat total weight of 4.50 carats! Beautifully designed and a definite representation of the Era!

Lot 547: A garland style yellow gold and diamond brooch. Set with one old cut diamond in the center and one seed pearl, the main attraction to this brooch is its gorgeous swag-style which is so characteristic of the time. Even more interesting is that it is all done in yellow gold-no platinum or silver!
